CUSTOMER NEED

Luma Arles, famous contemporary art foundation, needed to hire new performers for the work These elements by Tino Sehgal.

The challenge was to find people capable of singing, dancing and interacting with visitors to the Tour de Luma in Arles, several times a day, having learned very quickly to interpret the work in all its originality: for Tino Sehgal, art is born in the place and at the very moment of the encounter between the audience and the performer. A sensitive, intangible moment that needs to be aroused…

The Luma team lacked the time and skills in-house to launch and follow up artistic recruitment, manage schedules, be available on a daily basis for the performers and, above all, take care of all the social management, every month.

This is where Culturevent’s project management and freelance administration solution came in.

Culturevent’s answer

To respond to the customer’s request, we proceeded in three stages:
– recruiting interpreters
– coordinating the project
– social management for freelance interpreters.

First of all, we had to draw up the recruitment ad with Tino Sehgal and his team, as well as the Luma Arles teams. We then advertised the vacancy in local cultural networks and received applications for an initial interview, before redirecting them to Tino Sehgal’s team if the interview was a good fit.

Once the five interpreters had been chosen, we proceeded with the contractualization, including the organization of an in-house training period. Since May 2023, we’ve worked with the team many times and on a regular basis (we’re happy to explain the intermittence system in English! We are in contact with the interpreters several times a month to make sure that their work is proceeding smoothly, that the schedule is being followed without difficulty, that exchanges with visitors, taken by surprise by these interventions, are going well, reporting all this information to the administration, etc.

Finally, we carry out what we call “portage salarial”: each month, we make all the legal declarations (declarations prior to hiring – DPAE, declarations and payment of contributions) and issue the contracts and payrolls.

The result for Luma Arles: the guarantee of a rigorous service, trust and delegation made possible by quality human exchanges between our respective teams, and the peace of mind of knowing that an entire aspect of this project is 100% taken care of.
